Haven't used it yet but set up including app was easy and intuitive.
I need a thermometer that can monitor my simmer temps for broth, and especially carmel candy temps to prevent burning. My other instant read thermometers are short and can't be held on the side of the pot. This one is very long, and easily fits in 20qt pot. The bracket clip holds it perfectly and keeps my hands free for other work.
It does have Bluetooth and can connect to an app, and will notify when it reaches temp. I don't see the point of that since I need to reach the temperature and keep it there. So I haven't tried the remote function. I guess when simmering a broth I could monitor the temp from the other room.
I works week for my needs, and is calibrated ok. It showed boiling water at 212 F.
I have actually owned a smart thermometer before, the reason I didn’t like that thermometer was because you could only control it with your phone, but the probe on its own did not display the temperature. This thermometer can be used directly from the probe or from your cell phone. I checked it against another thermometer and it was very accurate. The quality looks good and I’ve never had a problem with the wireless range. Super easy and I would highly recommend.
Really like that this takes the guesswork out of cooking when it comes to temperature and if something is done. The app works well and you can even save specific temperatures and label them so it's easy for future uses. The length is also great for deep pots. Overall, a great cooking tool to have.
This is an attractive and sleek food thermometer. I was impressed that it has a huge temperature range! I really like that it is rechargeable - no more ruined devices from leaky, corroded batteries!
I could not find the TCook app that is required to connect it to your Android phone in the play store, but it is in the Amazon App Store. I have not tried to connect it to my phone so I cannot speak to the App performance or ease of install.
I tested this thermometer against another thermometer that I have, in the lower heating ranges, and it compared quite favorably. Another big plus for this device is that it has a long probe (very sharp!), and a clip to hang it on the edge of the pan, which is great for monitoring the temperature rise of certain candy mixtures, for example.
At it's current reduced price, I think this is an excellent value!
